What is Bulk Importer for Zendesk?

Bulk Importer for Zendesk is a Google Sheets™ add-on published by Cody Labs. It connects to your Zendesk account through the same subdomain, agent email, and API token flow as Zendesk Exporter, generates template tabs with dropdowns pulled from your real organizations, ticket forms, groups, and custom fields, and validates every row — required fields, email format, dropdown membership, and match ambiguity — before anything is written. Clean rows are then created or updated in Zendesk in batches, with per-row results and deep links written back to the sheet. Your data flows directly between your spreadsheet and Zendesk: we operate no servers and never receive your data. See the privacy policy for full details.

Companion to the live Zendesk Exporter — Exporter reads tickets into Sheets; this add-on writes users, organizations, and tickets back into Zendesk.

What it does

Users, organizations & tickets

Create and update all three record types from generated template tabs.

Live dropdowns

Organizations, ticket forms, groups, assignees, and custom fields are pulled straight from your Zendesk account.

Dry run before push

Every row is checked for required fields, format, dropdown membership, and matching before anything writes. Errors show up as cell notes, not surprises in Zendesk.

Batch push with an audit trail

Pushes run in batches with per-row results, deep links, and an append-only Activity Log.

How it works

Four steps, all inside the sheet you are already working in. Nothing reaches Zendesk until the rows have been checked against your live account.

  1. Connect your Zendesk account

Open the sidebar from Extensions › Bulk Importer for Zendesk and enter your Zendesk subdomain, agent email, and an API token — nothing is written into the spreadsheet.

  2. Generate a template from your live data

Pick users, organizations, or tickets. The template is built from your account's real organizations, ticket forms, groups, agents, and custom fields, so the dropdowns only ever offer values Zendesk will accept.

  3. Validate every row first

Rows are checked against those live lists — required fields, email format, dropdown membership, and custom-field types. Create-vs-update matching (by ID, external ID, or email/name) is resolved automatically; an ambiguous match is flagged for you to resolve rather than silently guessed.

  4. Push, and keep the audit trail

Clean rows are pushed in batches through Zendesk's bulk endpoints. Results, created or updated record IDs, and deep links are written back into the sheet, and every push is recorded in an append-only Activity Log tab.

What you need before you start

  • A Zendesk account, and an agent with permission to create or update users, organizations, and tickets.
  • A Google account, and edit access to the spreadsheet you want to import from.
  • Nothing else — there is no server to set up, and no data leaves your sheet and your Zendesk account.

Frequently asked questions

Can it update existing Zendesk records, not just create new ones?

Yes. Users, organizations, and tickets can all be created or updated, matched by ID, external ID, or email/name.

Is validation always available, even on the free plan?

Yes. Validation is never metered — only pushed rows count against the free plan's monthly limit.

Is this the same product as Zendesk Exporter?

No — it's a companion add-on. Zendesk Exporter reads tickets into Sheets; this one writes users, organizations, and tickets back into Zendesk.
