Excel Import & Export for Azure Boards, published by Cody Labs. Effective 26 July 2026.
Excel Import & Export for Azure Boards (the "extension") exports Azure Boards work items to Excel workbooks and imports edited spreadsheets back as work item changes. It runs entirely as a client-side Azure DevOps extension. Cody Labs operates no server for the extension and does not receive, store, or transmit your work item data, your files, or your credentials.
vso.work, vso.work_write).Nowhere outside Azure DevOps (and Gumroad, for the narrow license check above). Exports are generated in your browser inside the work-hub iframe and downloaded straight to your device. Imports are parsed in your browser and written back to Azure Boards via the Work Item Tracking API, as you, with your permissions — the extension has no admin powers and can never do more than your account can. There is no Cody Labs server, database, analytics endpoint, or third-party service in the data path.
The only thing the extension persists is saved column-mapping presets — names and field lists, never work item data — kept in the Azure DevOps extension Data Service, which lives inside your organization. Each user's presets are visible only to them. You can delete them in the extension at any time; uninstalling the extension removes its stored data per Azure DevOps's extension data lifecycle.
The Pro tier is sold as bring-your-own-license through Gumroad: Gumroad handles checkout, invoicing, and payment details. Cody Labs never receives your payment information.
Because we operate no systems of our own, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Exported files live on your device, under your control. Mapping presets live in the Data Service on your Azure DevOps organization and are removed when you delete them or uninstall the extension.
