monday's built-in import only creates new items. This one can update existing ones too — match rows on any column, import subitems, preview every change before it commits, and undo the whole import if it's wrong.
Install from the monday marketplaceExcel Upsert Importer is a monday.com board view published by Cody Labs. You drop an Excel or CSV file onto a board, map its columns to your board columns, and choose a column to match on. Rows that match an existing item update that item; rows that don't are created — so importing an updated spreadsheet refreshes your board instead of filling it with duplicates. It runs entirely in your browser inside monday, using your own monday session. Your spreadsheet is parsed locally and your data flows only between your browser and monday's own API: we operate no servers and never receive your board data or your file. See the privacy policy for full details.
Match rows on item name or any column you pick — a unique ID, an email, an order number. Matched items are updated; the rest are created.
Map a “parent” column and rows import as subitems of the matching item — the feature the native import has never had.
A per-row preview shows exactly what will be created and what will change, old value to new, before a single write happens.
Got it wrong? Undo the whole import — created items are deleted and updated columns are restored to their previous values.
Text, numbers, dates, status & dropdown (matched by label), people (matched by email), checkbox, link, email, phone — with sensible coercion.
A client-side board view. No external server sees your data, and there's nothing to install outside monday.
Upload an .xlsx or .csv, pick the sheet, and map columns to your board.
See the creates, the updates, and the skips — nothing is written yet.
Commit when it looks right. Change your mind afterwards? Undo in one click.
Plans are billed through monday's own marketplace billing — start free, upgrade in a couple of clicks from inside the app. No separate account or card details go to Cody Labs.
